Will you renovate an existing mansion house or build a new one, as a reproduction of a funeral mausoleum, colonial barn, or classical museum house? You’ll be paying unnecessarily inflated extra costs and be laughed at behind your back for your lack of taste and your wasting money?
Will you renovate an existing mansion house or build a new one, as a reproduction of a funeral mausoleum, colonial barn, or classical museum house? You’ll be paying unnecessarily inflated extra costs and be laughed at behind your back for your lack of taste and your wasting money?

Many existing mansion houses have been “renovated” to maintain or create their appearance as funeral mausoleum, colonial barns, or classical museums. It’s one thing to preserve a historically significant residence. It’s quite another, to build or renovate one to look like a historically significant structure. Inevitably the inside “renovations” are often expected to be very modern and have all the latest technological “Smart Home” marvels. The other option is to try to conceal all these technologies within the design. The results are sadly the same. People laughing at an owner because of bad taste and that they’ve been taken to the cleaner’s with greatly inflated costs. Naturally, the resulting renovation is uncomfortable, annoying to live in, costly to operate, and an aesthetic hodge podge of styles to stuff modern conveniences someplace.

In the real world, funeral mausoleums, colonial barns, and classical museums were originally built at a time when there were limitations in construction technology as well as the absence of modern conveniences desired in today’s homes. There’s also the situation where owners think just because they have money, they know more than professional architects, engineers, or interior designers about design and aesthetics. The sad reality is they’re unsuspecting sheep with little knowledge of materials or furnishings, little or no contact with suppliers and are ready to be sheared like sheep and fleeced from their money.

Unfortunately, there’re still plenty of unscrupulous architects, engineers, and interior designers ready to agree to any new building design or renovation a client wants while they artificially inflate costs, “steal” the clients’ money, and laugh all the way to the bank.

Architectural Design Partners, Inc is different. We renovate existing mansions houses and design and build new contemporary mansion homes, not houses. Our homes are comfortable to live in; have state-of-the-art Smart Home amenities; harmonize with their landscaped site; and have modern interior furniture and finishes created to enhance a family’s lifestyle. We have access to hundreds of  thousands of suppliers, most of which clients are unaware of.

The questions we still always ask is why do clients want to pay inflated costs, try to live in an uncomfortable house instead of a home, or be laughed at behind their back? Do they really think they know more than us with 50 years of historical study and building design experience? We have a modern home solution, let’s talk.
